What is Resomation?
Resomation, also known as Water Cremation, Aquamation, or Alkaline Hydrolysis, is a groundbreaking, eco-friendly process that accelerates the natural decomposition of the body. It offers a sustainable alternative to both burial and cremation.
The process works by using a 95% water and 5% alkaline solution to gently decompose the body in a controlled environment. This solution is heated, speeding up the natural decomposition process that typically takes place when a body is buried in the earth. Unlike traditional cremation, which can take hours and release harmful carbon emissions, resomation occurs in just 3 to 4 hours and produces no toxic byproducts.
The body’s remains are returned to the family as a fine, white powder, much like the ashes from cremation. However, because resomation uses far less energy and does not release carbon emissions, it is a much more environmentally responsible option.
